Novella Reflection
You all have heard about zombie apocalypse’s right? You all have seen shows like the Walking Dead right? Well in our Language Arts class we were assigned a group to write a novella on an apocalyptic event. A novella is a fictional story that is longer and more complex than a short story. We were given a sheet of paper that had examples of apocalyptic events and we had to choose our top three. Your groups were based on your top three. My group chose to write about World War 3. In the story the Middle East is starting to attack the West. So our title for the novella is East vs. West. There were a few requirements to this project. Each group had to have at least 7,500 words in the novella and the max words you could have was 15,000. Also each group member had to type up at least 500 words on their assigned writing night. Each member had five nights of writing. Also we had to complete revisions after we wrote our chapters, and fill out a revision sheet. The revisions we had to complete were call the 5 Step Revision Process. The first step to the revising was revising for content. The second step was revising for style. Third was to revise for grammar and sentence structure. The forth step was revising for punctuation. Lastly you had to revise for mechanics. My biggest challenge was actually trying to focus on the story making sense other than just writing 500 words and being done. I overcame that by revising by myself and getting critiqued by others. The quality I used was collaboration. I used this by working with my team and making decision together for one another. Last year if I was assigned a group to work with I wouldn’t be happy and wouldn’t want to do any work. Collaboration to me means working with another person or group and trying to accomplish something.
